The concept is based on SNMP Traps.
For eg. Consider a printer which generate alarms such as "PaperOver","PaperJammed", "InkOver" etc. There can be multiple printers in the network and can be managed via SNMP.
Each of these Printers which are SNMP compliant sends a Trap on each of the above mentioned ERRORS to a centralized system .
The centralized system is attached to a Mobile Phone which can send SMS via COMM port.
On recieving the traps based on the configured Mobile station an SMS can be delivered.
For E.g on recieving error "PaperOver" of "InkOver" the SMS can be sent to a Non-Technical person who can replace the Toner or Put the paper in a Tray. etc....etc. A GUI can exist for configuring the target and the type of alarms to be forwarded for a particular destination.
Also the SMS can be logged before bein sent. Hence the Central system can also act as an NMS.
